nRF52840 development kit ble antenna efficiency

To the kind attention of Nordic support team,

if it is not much trouble I would like to know what you consider a good/acceptable ble antenna efficiency in

desktop environment (keyboards like applications). Is it 40% efficiency acceptable in your opinion according

to most common standards? And, by comparison, what is it a nRF52840 development kit ble antenna efficiency?

Thank you very much for your kind attention,

Best regards

  • The efficiency of the antenna depends on a lot of things, but the size of the ground plane is one of the most important factors. A small PCB will have less efficiency than a large one. 40% should be ok for short distance devices like keyboards etc. The antenna on the DK is isn't characterized so it's hard to tell. GIven the size of the antenna and the ground plane, the efficiency is good on this.
