Hi,

state that the nRF52840 Dongle (PCA10059) is support when it is not?

I have a nRF51 Dongle and purchase a nRF52840 Dongle to use as a sniffer but now find that it's not supported.

Hi,

The nRF Sniffer does include support for the nRF52840 Dongle now. Please make sure you are using the latest version of the nRF sniffer SW (v3.1.0 at time of writing) and that you have programmed the correct FW file onto the dongle (Programming the nRF Sniffer firmware)

I programmed (sniffer_nrf52840dongle_nrf52840_7cc811f.hex) into the dongle with a Segger J-Link using J-Flash and it gave CRC=744E2E0F.

When I plug the nRF52840 Dongle back into a PC's USB no device is seen?

Would I expect to see a COM Port as with the nRF51 Dongle?

Yes, it should have shown up as a new com port. Please try to program the hex file I included in below with your J-flash to see if it fixes this problem. It contains the same sniffer FW as above, but also the original USB bootloader and MBR that comes pre-programmed on the dongle. I suspect the bootloader and MBR may have been erased on your board as you were programming the chip directly, and the Sniffer FW will not be able to run if the MBR is not present.

This .hex should let you bring back the dongle to its factory state:

6445.bootloader_mbr_sniffer_fw_pca10059.hex

Note that you can program the dongle through DFU USB with the programmer once the dongle has been recovered. Just remember to press the reset button to put the device in DFU mode first (DFU mode indicated with red LED)

Thanks for the information and the hex image.

The nRF52840 Dongle now works fine with both the nRF Sniffer code and also with the nRF Connect PC program.
