What is the difference between white listed advertising packets and general advertising packets?

Hi,

I understand that white list can be enabled at the peripheral side. I also know that if white listing is enable on the peripheral side then it wont respond to centrals that are not in whitelist. I would like to know if there is a difference between the over the air packet that is transmitted for white listed advertising and general advertising? I mean is there any flag or something from which we can identify weather white listing is enabled or not for a particular peripheral?

Hi Prasad,

There is nothing in the advertisement packet that shows that whitelisting is in use. So the only way to "know" is to try connect with a device that uses white listing and observe that it always fails (unless the device trying to connect is in the whitelist).
