Mac Doesn't Recognise nRF52840 DK With Micro-USB

Hi, 

I've been trying to use a micro-USB cable to power the nRF52840 DK board but my Mac (Catalina version 10.15.6) isn't recognising the board in the system report, although the LED's are lighting up on the board. I've followed the instructions from the 'getting started' guide for the DK but can't seem to get my Mac to recognise that there's a board connected. This is for a project due soon so any help would be appreciated.

Hi, Jaz!

Have you made sure that you're using a cable that supports data transfer? Some micro-USB cables only delivers power, and does not handle data. 

If the LED on the board is blinking fast, you may have the wrong type of cable.

Thanks so much! I hadn't thought of that, I ordered a new cable (ensuring it supports both power and data transfer) and the board is now being recognised by my Mac.
