Development of lteM and ble application with nrf9160dk

Hi,

I'm new to the whole Nordic environment, and I need to develop an application working with ble and lteM, so I have an nrf9160 DK for this purpose. 

I worked with the 52840 from the nrf5 sdk, without all the zephyr rtos thing. But I went to develop my application with the nrf connect sdk, and I'm very lost with zephyr rtos, lteM development, and was wondering if someone could help me guiding me on how can I get started and understand all the things I need for this.

Already checked and tried the whole getting started guide, loaded some of the SDK examples to check the functionalities, but when I came to developing my application I got lost in all the code in the examples, finding the examples available in the SDK very advanced to get started with the lteM and zephyr thing.

Hello, 

Yes, I agree, moving to an SDK with an RTOS, can be daunting. However, we believe that you should be able, as many before you, to learn the nRF Connect SDK and our products. 

Working with the nRF9160 DK and Getting Started are good chapters to start with along with the Getting started with the nRF Connect SDK tutorial. The latter is currently not up to date with the current NCS tag, v1.5.0, but there should not be too many differences. 

The nRF Connect SDK includes several official applications and samples made and tested by the Nordic Semiconductor team, and the Zephyr RTOS repository includes several community made samples.

We encourage new users to start with the simpler samples designed for the nRF9160. And don't forget to use our Infocenter to read the nRF9160 Product Specification, nRF9160 DK User Guide, and the AT Command overview.

Unfortunately, there is no better way to start with any development than looking at our samples. There is a good reason for why we are using an RTOS to develop on the nRF9160.
