missing library SEGGER_crtinit_v8m_mainline_little.o

HI, I'm new here, hope following the rules for Questions.

I'm using nRF Connect v.3.6.1 and as toolchain SEGGER Embedded Studio for ARM (Segger edition) V5.34a.

I need to create an Hex for a nRF 9160, but when building I keep getting this message "can't open ..../toolchain/segger_embedded_studio/lib/SEGGER_crtinit_v8m_mainline_little.o for reading" and actually the problem seems to be that SEGGER_crtinit_v8m_mainline_little.o is not there.

Any suggestion how I can solve the problem?

Hi Robi, 

Can you please provide some more details? What NCS (nRF Connect SDK, not nRF Connect for Desktop) version are you using? Assuming you are using Toolchain Manager to install NCS, did you install NCS when connected to VPN?

I'm using nRF Connect SDK v1.5.0.

No I wasn't connected to any VPN during the installation and I tried on both Mac and Windows.

This is a completely new error that we have not seen before. What project are you trying to run? Can you please provide the output log from SES when this error occurs? Please try to build same project using the command line interface.

I can try with line interface only later today. For the time being let me show what I did:  just trying to do the very basic to check tool first.

Then "Building the project" and here the outcome

Thanks for elaborating. The problem is probably caused by starting "A new project". Please see the nRF Connect SDK Tutorial. The current NCS version is tag 1.5.0, while the tutorial is based on 1.4.0. 

To start a project we encourage opening projects via the "Open nRF Connect SDK Project". 

You can also find more information in the Getting Started chapter in the NCS documentation, and please read the Working with nRF91 series.
