crystal selection

Hi,

In the reference design of "nRF51822-QFAA_ST_BAL-NRF01D3", the datasheet recommends this crystal (www.digikey.com/.../3125558), but we are out of stock from local distributors now. So we plan to use this one instead (www.digikey.com/.../1468354).

Is this change OK? The only difference is the frequency tolerance, and frequency stability.

Hi,

Those two crystals are fairly equal (same manufacturer and series). As long as you keep under +/- 40 ppm overall drift for BLE applications and +/- 60 ppm for proprietary applications, you should be OK. Other electrical specs are also within the specs for the nRF-device.

There should not be a problem using this xtal.
