Running nRF9160 DK with Windows 7

Anyone able to run the nRF9160 DK on Window 7?  I see the 3 serial ports and the mass storage device but even though I see the device in the Programmer app I get "Unsupported device. The detected device could not be recognized as neither JLink device nor Nordic USB device".  I've tried the nRF52 drivers per other threads but it has not worked for me.

  • Hey,

can you check if running nrfjprog --recover fixes the issue? Do you run into the same problem on newer Windows versions or other OS'es?

  • Hi Hakon,

I ran nrfjprog --recover and I still get the same error "Error while getting readback protection" on nRF Connect V3.6.0.

At least with this 3.6.0 version the board is recognized.  I updated back to nRFConnect V3.6.1 and I cant get past Using nrfjprogr library 1012, pc-nrfjprog-js 1.76.  The log is back to "Unsupported device".

Note that I can run  nrfjprog -f NRF91 --memrd 0 --n 1000 and this works fine.

It seems the nrfjprog tools work fine but the problem is nRF Connect has an issue with Windows 7.  I ran the same kit on a Win 10 machine without a problem.
