Directly Making Use of IEEE 802.15.4 in Application

Hi all, 

    I need to directly develop my application on top if IEEE 802.15.4 MAC layer. Could you please inform me of any sample application available under Zephyr that directly makes use of IEEE 802.15.4? Second, if you could also suggest any pointer that could help me to understand how I could directly develop my application on top of IEEE 802.15.4 using Zephyr would be highly appreciated.

Hi,

I'm not sure if there are any examples that uses the 802.15.4 MAC directly, most samples seems to use 6loWPAN and sockets. These are the Zephyr samples that I can find that supports 802.15.4:

• 802.15.4 “serial-radio” sample
• wpanusb sample
• Socket Echo Server
• Socket Echo Client
• Networking with QEMU and IEEE 802.15.4
• UpdateHub embedded Firmware Over-The-Air (FOTA) sample
• nRF IEEE 802.15.4: Serialization RPMsg

Could you use the L2 Layer Management to access the IEEE 802.15.4 Soft-MAC through sockets in your application? If not, I think you need to read the API documentation to implement the required function calls yourself.
