How is the UE notified of a Valid Paging if the network wants to reach the UE

Hi All

 Can anyone please point me to any documentation/app note that explains how the UE receives a Valid paging message when Network wants to reach the UE. Is there a Hardware signal ?

  could not find any post that highlighted this.

Hi CDP, 

The device wakes up regularly and pages the network by monitoring the PDCCH to see if there are any pending data/signal. and if there is page with UE identity it is indicated to upper layers on the modem and that triggers RRC connection establishment. Paging reception is specified mostly in 3GPP 36.331 but that's covering whole RRC functionality.
