Problems adding MAX6675 Device

Hi,

I am having problems adding the MAX6675 device.

I using this code

and this prj.conf file.

CONFIG_CBPRINTF_FP_SUPPORT=y
CONFIG_SPI=y
CONFIG_SENSOR=y
CONFIG_MAX6675=y

and this overlay file

	sck-pin = <10>;
	mosi-pin = <11>;
	miso-pin = <12>;
	ss-pin = <13>;

		compatible = "maxim,max6675";

and try to build using the command line

cmake -GNinja -DBOARD=nrf9160dk_nrf9160 -DCONF_FILE="prj.conf"  ..

I get an error

prj.conf:6: warning: attempt to assign the value 'y' to the undefined symbol MAX6675

I have not been looking at this for a while so I apologise i advance if things have moved on in the previous months and Im missing something obvious.

Hi,

I believe that the sensor you are looking at may not yet have been merged to the nrf connect sdk releases, since it is rather new:
https://github.com/zephyrproject-rtos/zephyr/commits/master/samples/sensor/max6675

This may explain why the CONFIG_MAX6675 is not recognized. I suggest to wait until it's been merged to master branch, and/or possible copy in the files may be possible.

Sorry, yes makes sense. I was assuming that since it was shown here

https://github.com/zephyrproject-rtos/zephyr/tree/master/samples/sensor/max6675

that it was part of nrf connect release too. 

When the new release does come out, can you suggest the best way of updating? I am using a Mac and have read various things, some suggesting that the nRF Connect Tool Chain manger works and some that don't.

I have tried it and it seems to install the code correctly but all the links/paths are not updated.

For a Mac, what is the easiest way of updating?

Moving forward the Toolchain Manager will be the way to go, but from my understanding it may still be in experimental release for Mac, but I believe west build and flash will work, though it may be SES that have some issues at the moment.

I don't know exactly when the latest zephyr will be brought into nrf connect sdk (ncs), but ncs is typically slightly behind. It will depend a bit on when we do a tagged relase in ncs vs. zephyr releases also. I can find the latest is:
