Porting from nRF52840 to nRF9160

Hello,

We have a firmware with 2 versions that runs on Baremetal and FreeRTOS on nRF52840 DK. We would like to port this firmware to nRF9160 without Zephyr and continue our development and testing on Baremetal and FreeRTOS.

• Is there a guide or a reference that is available for setting the configurations on SES for this port?
• Porting firmware application from PCA10056 to PCA10090? Preprocessors let you port from 10056 to 10040 for example, but if I can do it for 10090 similarly?

Hello SR, 

There is nothing holding you back from doing this, however, you need to be aware the the nRF9160 is a Arm Cortex-M33 which includes Trust Zone technology with a secure and non-secure domain. More information on the Application MCU here. We do not have any guides for moving over to FreeRTOS, as we have focused our SDK to nRF Connect SDK which includes a fork of the Zephyr OS.  We encourage you to read our documentation in our infocenter, the nRF9160 Product Specification, and our nRF Connect SDK documentation which links to Zephyr OS, MCUBoot, nrfxlib and Kconfig reference. 

To work with nRF9160 and NCS, we have a Nordic Edition of SES (currently at v5.34) which is linked in the NCS documentation.
