nrf9160 - Recommended tick source for low power consumption modes

Hi,

Currently, we work on a project that uses:

    nRF9160
    Zyphre OS
    Segger Embedded Studio for  Arm (Nordic Edition) V5.10d
    SDK v1.4.1

We need to implement a source that generates tick to be able to call some callbacks of timeout functions. Before choosing a source to generate those ticks, we want to consult with the Nordic team to find out:

What method do you recommend to generate a tick every ~ 1Sec and that is compatible with low power modes?

We are open to other proposals to implement time-out functions in low power modes

Hi,

 

Try using the k_timers (uses RTC):

https://docs.zephyrproject.org/1.11.0/kernel/timing/timers.html#using-a-timer-expiry-function

Note that the timer handler is executed in interrupt context (RTC interrupt context), so you should combine it with a work-item if you need to process data.
