Power 40mA Vibration Motor through GPIO Pin

Hi,

I'm developing on the nRF52 DK which has the nRF52832 chip.

I have a small vibration motor which I'd like to control on/off through one of the boards GPIO pins. At 3V the vibration motor requires a current of 40mA, but I can only seem to get around 6.5mA from the GPIO at this voltage.

Is this the max current I can get through the GPIO?

Alternatively, is it possible to control one of the VDD pins on the power rail to switch on and off with code?

Any other suggestions on how to control this motor are also greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help.
