using nrf9160 to read all nearby base stations' Cell ID, TAC, MNC, MCC

Hi,

I am trying to read read all nearby base stations' Cell ID, TAC, MNC, MCC.

Is this even possible to do with this DK?

At this point I have found these commands:

  • AT+CEREG, which give me Cell ID and TAC, but only the base station I am currently connected to.
    • Is there a similar command, which returns this data for all nearby base stations?
  • AT%NBRGRSRP
    • This command returns physical Cell ID, not the unique Cell ID. Is it possible to have the unique Cell ID?
    • When I use this command,  see figure below.

Best regards,

Marius

  • Hi,

When I use this command,  see figure below.

The nRF9160 does not meassure neighboring cells in all scenarios, as explained in the documentation for the command.

At the moment, %NBRGRSP is the closes you will get.

However, in the upcoming modem firmware v1.3.0 we will provide better means of getting information about nearby cells.
