nRF52840 Dongle multiple devices

Regarding nRF52840 Dongle, how many Bluetooth devices can it receive? The dongle looks promising and since we are looking for a device that will receive data from 16 handheld temperature sensors that will be sent via bluetooth. Hence 16 device, The idea is to use nRF52840 Dongle temporarily to a raspberry pi 3 over usb. Is it possible to confirm how many devices this can receive?

Softdevice S140 or S340, does this matter how many devices can be connected? "20 concurrent links" is mentioned.

Alternatively we can use 2 pcs nRF52840 Dongle, to achieve the coverage for 16 pcs, if at least 8 devices have been tested?

Hi,

As my colleague Bjørn said, the nRF52840 and the S140 will support at least 8 concurrent connections. Also see See S140 SoftDevice Specification:

It can support up the concurrent central, observer, peripheral, and broadcaster roles with up to 20 concurrent connections along with one Observer and one Broadcaster.

Do you have any knowledge of the range, how far it is possible for sensors to stand from the dongle?

And if it is physically possible to connect / solder an external annenta to the dongle?

 You can refer to this post for the distance although it's for nRF52840.

There is no connector, so I guess that you can try to solder on a connector.
