Bluetooth LE Console for NUS

I connected my device over BLE with the computer and currently using Bluetooth LE Console from Nordic. The Console is receiving data and that is good, but I do not know how to send multiple characters at once. It is only sending one or 2 char at a time. Does anyone have more experience with this?

I am using Ubuntu with NCS 1.5.0

This example gives you access to the shell interface over bluetooth. I am not able to see only 1-2 characters being transmitted, at my end its between 1-20 bytes. Do you have a log showing the issue?

Hi Håkon,

So what I mean is that when I press something on my keyboard it is sent imidiatly to the BLE, so my output looks like this:


instead of sending "test" all at once, after I click enter, since my MTU is 244 bytes and I know it could fit.

I am just asking if this is normal behavior or am I missing something?

and also is there a way to enable the local echo in the console?

Actualy I could send multiple chars at once when trying to press more keys at once.


But I would prefer to paste or edit in the console some larger strings.

Due to the deps on python2 in "ble_console" I had issues running this one (I reported this py2 dep internally), so I went with two nRF kits, where one of them ran the pc-ble-driver connectivity firmware and connected through this script:

I can add your findings to the component as a feature request internally.

Hi Håkon,

Thanks for the answer, it would be great to have this feature working natively without external components. 

In the meantime, I will try shell_bt_nus.py with the external board. About that:
* will it work with the nrf52840 dongle or I need to use the dev kit with Jlink?
