Softdevice programming from KEIL is not working anymore

Hello,

We opened from a clean download the example "ble_app_uart" in this folder:

\nRF5_SDK_17.0.2_d674dde\examples\ble_peripheral\ble_app_uart\pca10040\s132\arm5_no_packs\ble_app_uart_pca10040_s132.uvprojx

but when we select the "flash_s132_nrf52_7.2.0_softdevice" Target, it fails on creating target, it seems to be something missing with includes.

It is very useful to program SD from Keil, what could we do to have it working?

Hi,

The flash_* target is only intended to be used for programming the SoftDevice (by clicking the "LOAD" button). You cannot build with the flash_* target selected.

We tried but it fails. we also erased the chip by "flash -> erase"

The only thing that seems to work is to "erase all" from nRF Studio. Is it possible to NOT use nRF Studio and erase all from Keil?

Hi,

It should be possible. You can refer to this thread. (Also note that many find the easiest way to erase a device to simply call "nrfjprog -e" from the command line after installing nRF Command Line Tools.)

Please could you confirm that it is not possible to correctly erase the nRF52 chip using Keil and we are forced to use different tool?

I followed the step in the thread you suggested, your example is setted up in that way and it is not working.

is it possible to find a way to automatically clear the flash (as with "nrfjprog -e") from the keil?

I am not able to find any way to do that, unfortunately. However, I do not see how that would be useful. In that case, you would have to program the SoftDevice as well as the application every single time.

It is very convenient to be able to completely erase than flash and program the chip inside the Keil without having to use 2 different tools each time. This possibility is included in your examples and therefore it would have been useful to use it.

Anyway if you tell me that it is not possible to do it in any way I will adapt
