nRF52832 recovery after P0.21/nRESET pulled low

Hi!

I've shipped a whole bunch of PCBs out to customers where pin P0.21 is attached to an IC (which pulls it low by default).

Usually this is fine as the preinstalled software doesn't have CONFIG_GPIO_AS_PINRESET but some customers installed their own software by accident that does have CONFIG_GPIO_AS_PINRESET set.

Is there a way for them to recover the nRF52 (via SWD) once that code has been uploaded? Or is the only option for them to manually pull P0.21 in order to erase the part and upload new firmware?

Hi,

The SWD interface is not functional while the reset pin is asserted (if enabled). So you need to physically pull the pin up in order to recover.
