Remove LTE antenna to force connection fail on nrf9160dk

Hello,

I'd like to test the condition when the LTE-M network is unreachable on the nrf9160dk.  I have interrupted the antenna path by connecting a 50ohm termination to J1, but I am still able to connect.  Any suggestions?

Hi, 

hm.. the best would be a shielded box, faraday bag.. 

You can try the microwave, or aluminium foil, but a small glip will let the signal in. 

Going down in a basement without LTE-M coverage.

Hi Kaja,

The fridge plus a 50ohm termination instead of the antenna (attached to J1) has done the trick.  The fridge has a seal around the door that allows me to sneak wires through.

I tried the freezer initially but I was seeing some strange results and I'm not sure if I was out of temperature range on components.
