NRF52840-DK interface to External BLE Pressure & temperature Sensor

Hi All,

I am new and trying to connect External BLE Pressure Sensor to NRF52840-DK Board

Do you have any example code for interfacing external BLE sensors that I can refer ?

What you suggest to start with .?

  • Hi,

    You can look at a BLE central example, for instance Nordic UART Service Client, and also see how the NUS client implementation is implemented so use as a reference for implementing your own GATT client (components\ble\ble_services\ble_nus_c\).

  • Hi Einar,

    Before using Nordic UART service Client, I am trying  to pair/connect other device as peripheral to nrf52840 Central.

    But it looks like not paring with peripheral device, I looked into Ble_app_Blinky_C example.

    Right now I am using nRF5_SDK_17.0.2 with pca10056/S140/SES having nRF52840-DK board

    I have changed below things in Main.c

    static char const p_target_periph_name[] = "34704" ;

    static void scan_init(void)
    {
    ret_code_t err_code;
    nrf_ble_scan_init_t init_cus_scan;

    memset(&init_cus_scan, 0, sizeof(init_cus_scan));

    init_cus_scan.connect_if_match = true;
    init_cus_scan.conn_cfg_tag = APP_BLE_CONN_CFG_TAG;

    err_code = nrf_ble_scan_init(&m_scan, &init_cus_scan, scan_evt_handler);
    APP_ERROR_CHECK(err_code);

    // Setting filters for scanning.
    err_code = nrf_ble_scan_filters_enable(&m_scan, NRF_BLE_SCAN_NAME_FILTER, false);
    APP_ERROR_CHECK(err_code);

    err_code = nrf_ble_scan_filter_set(&m_scan, SCAN_NAME_FILTER, p_target_periph_name);
    APP_ERROR_CHECK(err_code);
    }

    Also Changed #define NRF_BLE_SCAN_NAME_CNT to 1 in sdk_config.h

    from here pasted main.c

  • Hi,

    Vipul2988 said:
    But it looks like not paring with peripheral device, I looked into Ble_app_Blinky_C example.

    There is no code for handling pairing in what you pasted. You should look at an example that use the peer manager in order to see how it is used, for instance the BLE Heart Rate Collector Example.

    PS: Please insert code snippets using Insert- > Code in the future, as that is much more readable. And for full files (like your main.c) it is better to use Insert -> Image/Video/File.

  •

    Hi Einar,

    in Peer Manager, it will help after a BLE connection is established by the SoftDevice, the Peer Manager is responsible for the pairing procedure and, if requested, for creating a bond.

    but how to establish BLE connection first ?
    between nRF5840-DK and Other peripheral sensor

  • In a nutshell, in order to connect the peripheral will advertise in connectable mode, and the central will scan for peripherals advertising something it filters on (typically UUID, name or BLE address). Then it connects. You can see how this is handled in some central examples, again I suggest you look at the BLE Heart Rate Collector Example. Using the SDK scan module you can do this quite easy in the central, so if you look at the referred example, you have this code snippet that configures the scan module to filter on the NUS UUID, and connect to the first device that matches the filter:

    static void ble_nus_c_evt_handler(ble_nus_c_t * p_ble_nus_c, ble_nus_c_evt_t const * p_ble_nus_evt)
