nRF5340 Burning Network Code With Application Code And Device Can Be Advertise Immediately?

Hi Sir,

nRF Connect: v3.6.1
NCS: v1.5.0 and use original example to build code,
Net core: hci_rpmsg example
Application core: peripheral_uart example

H/W device: nRF5340 DK Board
Programmer: use nRF Connect or DOS mode.

'nRF5340 2in1 merge - Net and App.bat' for nRF Connect Programmer use,

'nRF5340_programmer.bat' for DOS mode use,

The device does not advertise immediately after burning hex files under the nRF Connect programmer
or DOS mode, and the device must be re-powered before it can be advertise.

First burning hex files:
I can't see the device advertising, device only LED1 blinking, it seems network code no work,
and device current consumption about 0.5mA.

Then after re-power device:
I can see the device start advertising, and device current consumption about 0.62mA.

I want to burn hex files and can see device to advertise immediately, how can I solved the problem?

Hello,

Please make sure you are using the latest version of nrfjprog ( nrfjprog --version : 10.12.1 at time of writing). I have seen this problem with --pinreset before, but only with earlier versions of nrfjprog.

Hi Sir,

Under DOS mode I retest v1.5.0 and v1.5.1 burn then advertise is fine,
but using nRF Connect programmer for burning requires re-powered
before you can see the advertise.

Question point: use nRF Connect programmer to do 2in1 burning,
and finally whether Nordic can add a 'hardware reset' action,
which may be need to modify the nRF Connect program.

Hi,

I wasn't able to replicate this with nRF connect either (nRF connection version 3.6.1 and Programmer app v1.4.8). Please try to program attached hex file and see if you still have to do a manual reboot.

Hi Sir,

I use '7610.merged_domains.hex' to burn to nRF53 DK(PCA10095 0.11.0),
DK LED1 has blinking, but still can't see the device having to do the
advertise in nRF Connect APP.

When HEX is burned, the advertise name 'Nordic_Blinky' appeared only once.

Hi,

I see it now. The programmer app is reading some memory after programming is complete and thus halting the CPU. So this means you have to press the reset button or power cycle the board to start program execution.
