Is it possible to over write nrf52840 dongle that already been flashed earlier with new .hex file

Hi

I have a nrf52840 dongle with which already been flashed with ot-NCP binary and I want to over write this binary with new binary image[ot-rcp] in nrf connect for desktop.

I could be able to see an option to load a new hex file in nrf connect for desktop, but after adding a hex file, cannot see any option to overwrite the image i.e. [Erase and write].

Would like to know the information on how to add the new .hex file to the dongle.

FYI I don't have debugger.

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi UmaMaheswar!

There are several ways to flash a new hex file to the nrf52840 Dongle, but using the nRF Connect Programmer should work as well. Have you chosen the correct device from the top left drop down menu? And would you mind running "nrfjprog -i" in command line and telling me the output?

    Best regards,

    Håkon

  • Sorry, I'm new here and couldn't find Command line here in nrf connect Programmer.

And I of course know how to program a dongle i.e just by adding a .hex file but my issue here is I have a dongle that already has a hex file and need to overwrite that firmware with new firmware using new .hex file, I found that to do sectorial erase we need a debugger that I cannot get now and want to program this dongle without erasing it's bootloader and some required things.
