Can the nRFgo nrf_utility be redistributed independently of nRFgo?

Hi,

I'd like to embed the nrf.exe utility used for creating DFU packages and uploading firmware via serial in a 3rd party app for use with our Nordic based devices.

I've read the license.txt (section 2) that is installed as part of nRFgo app...

1. The 3rd party app would be downloaded , so there is no sure way to know if end user has a Nordic device (although it's useless with out it) - distributing the Nordic s/w with a nordic device is something the license stipulates as far as I can tell, perhaps there are exceptions?

2. I want to redistribute only a part of the nRFgo application, is this allowed?

Does anyone know if redistribution is allowable and/or who I can talk to about this?

Is there an opensource version of the nrf utility that is 'free' to redistribute?

Thank you for your request.

For the current version of the nrf utility, you are not allowed to distribute it. The nrf utility which is available on Nordic's Github is currently under proprietary licence but will soon be changed to BSD licence.
