Universal IR transmitter protocol

In Nordic's Smart Remote 3, it is mentioned that IR transmitter is protocol agnostics while IR driver is Protocol specific. Is it possible to write a common IR driver which is IR protocol agnostic? To write a universal IR driver which can be used for all IR signals.

What are the challenges in doing so?

Can we directly send raw IR signals of any protocol through IR transmitter attached on nrf52840?

Hi Bhumika,

I do not see any reason that should not be possible. This is not directly related to the nRF though and it would be up to you.
