Creating new project/driver using nRF Connect SDK

Hello Nordic support,

1. I would like to understand how can I add a new driver to nRF Connect SDK and use it in my application. Are there any tutorials for this?

2. If I need to create a project from scratch using nRF Connect SDK (with FreeRTOS instead of Zephyr OS), what would be the steps to follow?

Thanks for your response. I looked at the above link to get an idea of how to create a new project (Hello World) from scratch. I see that this HelloWorld example uses Zephyr OS as I see Zephyr kernel files as part of the project. 

Could you please let me know if there is a way to not use Zephyr OS for a new project since I'm planning to use a different OS?

Oh, I overlooked your second questions where you are asking about FreeRTOS.

I don't think you should use the nRF Connect SDK. You can surely run FreeRTOS kernel and just use the HAL of Zephyr, but I am not sure if there is any tutorial on that because hardly anybody would do that. 

You could use the nRF5 SDK instead, but Im not sure how much support there will be in the future because Nordic is pushing Zephyr OS.

Anyways, a good bet for you could be to take a look at Amazon's FreeROTS fork which has examples for the nRF52840 using nRF5 SDK https://docs.aws.amazon.com/freertos/latest/userguide/getting_started_nordic.html

But beware that Amazon FreeRTOS's maintainance is not really great and the nRF5 SDK they are using is pretty outdated.
