receive enable control timing of power amplifier

I have added a power amplifier in nrf51422, but I don't know when I should enable/disable the power amplifier in order to reduce power consumption, i.e. when listen for scanning and connection start and stop. In TI CC2540, there is an option to set the receive enable pin, so that they can control it by their bluetooth protocol stack

Hi,

You can connect the enable switch to VDD_PA. This pin will go high(1.8V) when the TX signal is active, and low in standby and RX mode.

Will the VDD_PA on when my device listen to central on only with no data to return, or when my device in an observer which will not send any data?

I'm not sure if I understand your question correctly, but another way of enabling the PA is to use GPIO and radio notification. Radio notification gives an interrupt when the radio is about to go active, and another when it is finished being active(this applies for both sending and receiving).
