nrf9160 application required to support modem delta update and modem full update?

I'm sorry if this has been answered somewhere else, but I couldn't find a thread that specifically addressed this.

Looking through the Modem FOTA options there is the "modem delta update' and the "modem full update" options. 

So far it seems like the delta update can be used to move the modem firmware up in minor revisions, while the full update is used to move it up in major revisions. 

Will this continue to be the pattern for the rest of the 9160 life cycle?  Will delta updates eventually be supported to move the modem firmware up major revisions?

The hardware requirements are increased if the full update is supported (either need internal flash reserved for the image or an external flash to store it), while the delta update is nice because the image is stored in the modem.

Hi Devin,

The answer to your questions is yes, we will keep this pattern, supporting delta update on major version update is no on our roadmap. The reason is that a major version has quite big differences compared with the former version due to lots of new features adding, so it is not worth using a delta update instead of implementing a full modem update. Due to the big size of the update package, you need an external flash for it.
