WLCSP light sensitivity, what impact to nPM1100

There are discussions on WLCSP light sensitivity for nRF5 product, which affects RF, clock accuracy, and low power current draw etc. what about the nPM1100 which clock accuracy won't apply to nPM, would it just affect/increase the base current draw?

  • Hi Leo

The nRF51 series was affected by IR light because the PLL was running in open loop when the radio was transmitting. IR light will cause a higher than normal drift of the carrier.

The nRF52 series are little affected. Under very string IR light, you can probably observe some effect since the currents are very low. I can't imagine that the nPM1100 is affected by this as the currents here are much higher. Maybe ask PMT if they have given this any thought.

    cheers,
