I have problem with nRF51822. How to solve problem and use wireshark?

Hello, I bought the Bluefruit LE Sniffer - Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE 4.0) - nRF51822 - V3.0 from Adafruit Bluefruit.

So, I downloaded nRF Sniffer for Bluetooth LE 3.0 and tried to use Wireshark according to the nRF Sniffer for Bluetooth LE v3.0.0 User Guide.

But there was an invisible problem in the Wireshark interface.

In the user guide, this problem is because of firmware HEX file.

So, I tried to install and use nRF Connect to program the firmware HEX file.

I think nRF Connect support nRF51822

But I have 'Unsupported device. The detected device could not be recognized as neither JLink device nor Nordic USB device.' problem.

1. Is this a problem because of the firmware HEX file, right?

2. Then, I want to use nRF Connect to solve this problem, but why is it not working? and how to solve this problem?

  • Hi Dasol,

I'm not sure the hex files comes with the nRF Sniffer would work with the  Bluefruit LE Sniffer .

As far as I know it would run with it own firmware. And you may not be able to use it with nRF Sniffer v3. Please follow the instruction in the documentation of the Blefruit LE sniffer.

I would suggest to get hold of a nRF 52 DK or nRF52 dongle. They should  work out of the box with the nRF Sniffer v3.
