Advertise received NFC buffer over BLE service

Hello, I essentially want to figure out a way to use the NFC buffer received by code like the writable_ndef_message example and have that same buffer, in the same code, advertise that buffer or notify it using a ble service of some kind. I tried writing my own custom service using the custom service tutorials and I always get the service to show up but I still have a hard time writing the buffer into the service so I can see it on nrf connect. Also, I tried implementing the nordic uart service and using ble_nus_data_send to send the whole string to the UART client but I still dont get it to send. I was just wondering if I could get some general guidance. If I can take the message received from NFC and advertise it over a ble client that is all I really need.

  • Hi,

Have you tried checking what the ble_nus_data_send function sends? Does it actually send the NFC buffer? Did you remember to enable notification for your characteristic?

    Best regards,

    Marte

  • Hi,

The code that I have right now for my application accepts and nfc message buffer using the same approach as writable ndef message. I am now experimenting with the ble_app_uart to see if it can send a predefined buffer instead of what I type in the com port. I have gotten as close as getting it to write a buffer to the tx  characteristic that I have predefined, lets say for example a buffer that says "hello world!", but it only sends that after I type something into the com port. I want to try the approach of using ble_nus_data to send the nfc message in my code but I am first trying to modify the uart event handler in the ble_App_uart example to be able to send any string without needing input from the com port. Then after that I want to start incorporating the ble_app_uart functions into my existing code so that it can send the nfc buffer, especially when there are changes to it that it will notify the characteristic. Does this sound reasonable or like a good approach or is there another service that can do this more easily? I will attach the ble_app_uart modified code to give it some context.

This is the modification I made that makes the uart example now able to send the buffer, data, everytime I type into the com port. I want to eventually have that buffer be an nfc message received from an nfc antenna. I think a good first step would be to be able to send the buffer using the uart event handler, without having to input any data into the com port, and then once that is done if I implement it in writable ndef message it should, as far as I am convinced, be able to send the data recieved from nfc buffer over tx characteristic. Let me know if there is a flaw in this logic or any potential alternative to this approach that may be easier or work better. Thank you for your timely response.
