Testing Coded Phy Interface

Hello,

We are trying to develop and test our coded phy BLE interface. We have used the iOS and NRF connect app to test the 1M services and characteristics, is there an equivalent we can use to test Coded PHY without writing our own firmware to another NRF52840? Do any mobile phones and BLE mobile apps (nRFConnect or light blue) currently support coded phy?

Hi

Yes, nRFConnect supports Coded PHY scanning, but the amount of phones actually supporting scanning and connecting over Coded PHY is rather limited. The flagship models of most brands from a year or so back should support Coded PHY, as well as most of the OnePlus phones OnePlus 6 and newer if I'm not mistaken, as well as the Samsung S10 series.

Great thank you, and are there any PC apps for Coded Phy testing? Is it possible to use a dongle and NRF Connect Desktop?

No, I'm afraid not. nRFConnect for Desktop's connectivity firmware is currently working on an older SoftDevice version that does not support Coded PHY. I am not aware of any PC apps supporting Coded PHY either I'm afraid.
