nRF52840 BLE Range Test:

Hi Nordic Team,

We require to perform below BLE range test, for which i would like to know which firmware i can use for the same.

1) To configure one device as continuous TX packet with Max power 8dBm

2) To configure second device as continous RX packet 

- Is the Sample Radio test firmware can be used for the above test?

- Is there any specific command for the above test?

- Can you provide the usage guideline for the RADIO TEST FIRMWARE FOR nRF52840?

- We also require to measure the BLE range for coded phy 125kbps, is it possible using radio test firmware?

I suggest you use the Experimental: ATT_MTU Throughput Example instead because it supports +8dBm and Coded PHY out of the box, and because the throughput example is great for finding the approximate range of your application given your application's throughput requirements.

I got the application and was able to test the range for 1M phy rate. Can you let me know what are the changes required for Coded Phy - 125Kbps?

Same application i require to test the range with Coded Phy - 125Kbps.

HI Haakonsh,

I figured out that there is command to change the phy rate in this MTU throughput example. which is as below:

Config Phy coded: this sets the phy to coded mode instead of 1M or 2M phy rate.

But the query is it doesn't provide information that which coded phy rate is used 500kbps or 125kbps? 

Can you let me know above commands will put in 125kbps or 500kbps? 

Is there any other command to configure it properly? or change in firmware?

The SoftDevice only supports 125kbps. 

The radio does support 500kbps PHY, but only for proprietary radio stacks.
