NCS for cloud gateway - where is the info/doc

I'm looking for information regarding how the cloud gateway works and how to make use of it.

- I need to connect the Thingy91's BLE to a gateway on the phone then relay the information to nrfCloud.

- I have tried nrf Cloud Gateway app on iOS. Looks like it can find the Thingy51 and then connect to the nrf cloud. But it won't find the BLE in Thingy91. I don't know if the Thingy91 BLE is running at all? Or is it because the gateway app only works with Thingy51?

- I also like to understand the exact sequence the gateway app uses to communicate to the nrf cloud. I saw the APIs on the nrf cloud pages. But I'd like to have some explanation of the process so that I can write simple app for testing if I need to. Any documentation on that?

- I'm not sure how much customization can you make in terms of the gateway/cloud app? If my BLE device has custom BLE service, can the gateway app handle that? Is there any way to demonstrate that?

Hi,

What application do you have running on the nRF52840 SoC on the Thingy:91? If you have not programmed it, the factory default is the Connectivity bridge. This does not have BLE enabled by default, but you can enable it as described in the sample's documentation.

The nRF Cloud Gateway app is not limited to Thingy:52. As long as your device is a Bluetooth Low Energy device, then you should be able to connect.

There is not much documentation about the cloud gateway app, but you can find the source code for the app here: https://github.com/nRFCloud/gateway-cordova.

Thanks for  the info. I'm running the default app. Apparently the BLE is not enabled.

But the gateway app is node.js and I'm not ready to venture into that yet. And the way it operates doesn't match what our project needs. I'm still looking for some documents explaining the process to connect to the nrfCloud using the RESTFUL APIs. I guess I can figure that out by try-and-error slowly.
