Toolchain manager nRF SDK V1.6.0 missing

Hi, I have installed the most recent version of nRF toolchain manager for windows (V0.9.2). nRF SDK V1.6.0 was released a couple of days ago but it is (not yet?) in the list of available SDK's. Is this a bug in my toolchain manager or is it not available yet?

Kind regards,

Stefan

  • Hello Stefan,

You are correct, NCS v1.6.0-rc2 is unavailable in the Toolchain Manager for the time being, it should be back shortly but I have no estimate for this right now.
I have asked the developers to make sure that users are notified when a toolchain is unavailable in the future, to avoid confusion.

You can still proceed to the new NCS SDK v1.6.0 release, but you can unfortunately not use the Toolchain Manager to set it up at the current time.

Sorry for any confusion this might have caused.

    Best regards,
    Karl

  • Thank you for your response.

For the record - NCS SDK v1.6.0 has not been released yet, but the release candidate 2 has been available.

I am a bit confused, because on git it says v1.6.0 is already released? Also the live documentation has moved to V1.6.0.

  • Oh, my apologies, I should have been more explicit in my previous reply - I meant to say that NCS SDK v1.6.0 is not yet available in the toolchain manager.
I will go back and edit my previous comment to reflect this.
You are indeed correct that v1.6.0 of the NCS SDK has been released, as shown in the github releases link you reference.

So, you may proceed to use v1.6.0 already, but since it is not yet available in the Toolchain manager you may not use the Toolchain Manager to set it all up.
The Toolchain Manager release was made unavailable due to an issue with SES, so I suppose the issue might still be present with v1.6.0 - in any case, we are working to resolve this as quickly as possible.

I am still sorry for any confusion this has caused.

    Best regards,
    Karl
