Firmware update for Thingy 91

I cant seem to get the Thingy 91 into boot MCU mode, so that I can update it to the latest firmware.
No matter how many times I try turning the unit off and powering up with the larger press button held down, the firmware programming returns an error complaining that the unit is not in BootMCU mode.

Is there anything else I could try?

  • Thanks Markus, I've tried it with two Thingy 91s . They are PCA20035 (2020:22 and 2020:23) - from the white labels.

I'm not sure how to determine what version the current firmware is - but I see that nrf Cloud complains that the devices are set to FOTA_V1 - if that helps

The version of firmware that I am trying to load into the Thingys is thingy91_fw_2021-06-28_7a076c22

    Regards,

    Andrew.

  • I do notice from the programmer tool log that there's a complaint about the serial port:

  • I've since tried the process using a Windows PC and got much further (than with the Mac) but still hit an error.
