nRF Connect: which USB BT devices are supported ?

I'm trying to make a sensor device BLE capable (using a 52832) - and some tutorials I read suggest to use "nRF Connect" for desktop for test and debugging.

I have an Asus BT500 and also a Logilink/CSR8510 USB dongle attached to my Windows PC but nRF won't find them. According to window's device manager, the drivers are properly installed. What kind of "device" will nRF connect accept ?

Funny thing, my Texas Instruments flash programmer for MSP430 is accepted by nRF connect and listed in the "select device" list.

What kind of nRFConnect app are you planning to use exactly? We don't have a debugger in the nRFConnect for Desktop application, but a BLE app that can scan for and connect to other BLE devices. Please note that these require a J-Link device and some other USB devices to connect to them. I'm guessing it doesn't recognize the Logilink/CSR8510 USB dongle you're using.

For development/debugging I would suggest using an IDE (SES, Keil, IAR, etc.) instead of just I.E. the nRFConnect programmer app.

I'm talking about the Nordic "nRF Connect v3.7.0" for Windows 64-Bit for desktop and then the "bluetooth low energy" app, which is inside the "nrf connect" app, which says it is a "general tool for development and testing with BLE".

I can find no indication which hardware needs to be used.

Why would I need a J-Link device ? for what ?

The nRF Connect BLE app for desktop is only supported by Nordic Development kits and Dongles, as the app is locked to a specific range of Segger IDs. This is done because the devices that use this application are required to work with any BLE device.
