SDK and Gazell Pairing

I have taken over a older (5+ years) project that uses Gazell, but it didn't use the Gazell link layer to do wireless pairing.  We were looking at shifting to SDK 12.3 (last supported SDK for nRF51), but it appears the SDK we are already using (7.1.0).  Since wireless pairing is the only change we are making to the project, it looks like staying with 7.1.0 is fine.  Does anyone have an insight or suggestions?

This is ultimately up to you. As you mention, this product is mature; but once you add new features; behavior can change and the product needs to be re-tested properly to ensure its still stable.
