What type of micro USB connector is required with the nRF52 development kit? 

Micro USB type A or type B?

There are Micro-B USB connectors on the DK - as you would expect on any USB device.

Micro-A is dead. The last time I saw a Micro-A ITW was a Sony Phone with Android 2.3 many years ago.
