How can i change the maximum number of characteristics per service in s140 v17.0 ? What are the limiting parameters?

Please help me understand why cannot I add more characteristic in my project beyond a specific number of characteristic i.e 8?
I have tried changing a lot of things, but nothing is yet working. 
Please help.
