How do I measure the total power consumption of the nRF52840DK, GPIOs included.

Hello everyone,

for a low-power application, I need to evaluate the total power consumption of the nRF52840 Dev Kit. To verify my measurements, I set one of the GPIOs to toggle from high to low. I tried then to measure the current like described here https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/index.jsp?topic=%2Fug_nrf52832_dk%2FUG%2Fnrf52_DK%2Fhw_meas_current.html by using an Osci in differential mode on the pins P22. However, I do not seem to measure there the toggling of the GPIO.

So my question: do I really only measure the current through the nRF-chip there? Is it possible to cut or solder a bridge to get the full current going through the periphery as well?

I also tried to measure the voltage drop via a shunt resistor on the external power supply. I do measure there a toggling with an amperemeter, I tried there too measuring with an Osci in differential mode but was yet not able to measure the voltage drop. As a shunt, I use a 10 Ohm resistor.

Can anyone help me out here? Thanks in advance!
