Regarding network signal strength

Hi there, 

Let me ask a question regarding signal strength. 

Every cell phone shows signal strength with the number of bars on the top right corner. 

I am wondering how the signal strength is technically shown software-wise. 

Is it programmed to acquire the RSSI by sending AT command with roop or is there a way to receive the RSSI in passive? 

Or it is not checking the RSSI, but different information. 

If anyone can help me, that is appreciated.

Hi,

On the nRF9160, you can use the +CESQ AT command to read the signal quality (RSRP and RSRQ).

You can also use the %CESQ command to subscribe to signal quality notifications.
