Can you provide a bit more information about your project, such as:
1) Which Nordic devices are you using on the device and host side?
2) Are you using standard Nordic development kits, or custom hardware?
3) Have you tried to use the Gazell device/host examples (without GZP) to see if they work as expected?

Have you mounted the module on a PCB?
If yes, can you send me a picture of it?
Usually these modules need to be mounted on a PCB with sufficient grounding in order to achieve optimal performance, and the module manufacturer should provide instructions how to design the PCB.
Have you tested with a standard nRF52840DK to see how the range compares?
If you can test with a DK it will show whether or not the issue is related to the hardware you are using.
