If I use the UICR registers to store Serial numbers, does the OTA update clear these registers, or leave them as is.

Hello,
You can freely use the UICR.CUSTOMER[] registers. The SDK bootloader will not touch these. Also, on the 52840, it's actually not possible to erase the UICR after you enable readback protection.
