Debugging without the power supply with USB

Hi There,

Now, I want to supply energy on the board with external power. As to say, I cannot supply power on the board by USB. In this condition, can I connect the board with a USB to debug or log the boards?

Not unless you an external or separate debugger.

What's the external debugger? How to debug?

I mean I want to log the board with the USB plugged in my PC, but not supply power. The power is supplied by external power sources.
