If you remove power from the beacon right around the time when the LED is going to start flashing to indicate power on, and do that a number of times you will see it will reset the beacon.

So use a power supply to supply 2-3V to the beacon. Right at the moment the LED light is going to flash (about 2.5 seconds after applying power), quickly disconnect the power. Then re-apply power and do it again. By disconnecting the power at about this moment during the startup process it causes the beacon to eventually reset itself and lose all of our parameters.

I have made it happen many times repeatedly.

The applied voltage does not matter. The voltage can be 2.0V or 3.0V and the behaviour of the beacon is the same.

  • Hi,

This seems indeed odd, but need some more info:

Is the name change permanent ?

What SDK version are you using?

Does it happen to other beacons as well or just one?

Is the behavior the same on other applications/apps, just ant to know if it is an issue in phone app software.

Are you doing anything specific to flash during startup ?

    Note:
The UUID and the MAC address seems to be unchanged.

How big of an issue is this? do you think it is something that can happen often for this device?

    Regards,
    Jonathan
