Thingy:91 unresponsive after flashing with J-Link

Hi,

I'm having some troubles with the Thingy:91 because it became unresponsive after I flashed the device with the mqtt_sample firmware.

I built the mqtt_sample with segger embedded studio, then I flashed the merged.hex output file using an external programmer (J-Link EDU Mini) through segger embedded studio.

Now the device is completely dead: If I try to flash the asset tracker application with MCU Boot using USB cable it completes the flashing procedure but then nothing happens, no led flashing and no debug output on LTE Monitor.

Also I'm not able anymore to connect the J-Link with the target (neither with Segger J-Link tools or with Nordic tools).

If I try 

nrfjprog -f nrf91 -r
i receive the following output:

ERROR: JLinkARM DLL reported an error. Try again. If error condition
ERROR: persists, run the same command again with argument --log, contact Nordic

Have I done something wrong? Which is the correct procedure to make the device work again?

    Hello, 

    In what position is the SWD Select switch (SW2) set? Make sure that it is set to nRF91 when programming the nRF91, and to nRF52 when programming the nRF52, when using a JLink external debugger. The onboard nRF52840 is the device managing the connectivity with between the computer and Thingy:91 (running Connectivity Bridge application).

    Please reprogram, using JLink EDU mini, the nRF52 with the Connectivity Bridge while SW2=nRF52, then switch SW2 to nRF91 and program the asset tracker application.

    Hi Øyvind,

    thank you for the answer. When I flashed the device with the mqtt_simple sample the SWD switch was set to nRF91 (how it is supposed to be, right?). 

    How can I reprogram the application with J-Link if it is not able to connect to target? If I run J-Link Commander application it reads VTref to 3V so I suppose it is able to see the target, but then if I type "connect" it fails to connect to target ("Connecting to target via SWD - Cannot connect to target") Same thing happens if I try to connect J-Link on Segger embedded studio. 

    How should I do?

    Hi Grein, 

    What version of nrfjprog and JLink are you running? Please run nrfjprog --version and provide the output. Have you checked that there is noe issues with the SWD cable?

    Does every nrfjprog command return the same output from your initial post? Can you please provide the generated log.log file as it instructs?

    No issue with the SWD cable, it worked well the first time I flashed the device with J-Link.
