nRF Connect SDK (Zephyr) vs standalone nRF5 SDK

Hi Team,

I have a few questions regarding nRF5 SDK and nRF Connect SDK.

I have previously used nRF5 SDK for two years, with and without freeRTOS. We might be making a new product with nRF52840 SoC.

Will Nordic continue to support the nRF52 Series with the nRF SDK and Soft devices?

Or the move to nRF Connect SDK and Zephyr is permanent. I really like the fact the previous SDK had standalone features and a developer could port freeRTOS easily.

Having said that, my second question is that how much is Zephyr RTOS tied with the main nRF Connect SDK? I have yet to explore more documentation, but I would like to know that is it possible to use SDK features with and wihout Zephyr RTOS, based on requirements?

nRF Connect SDK is 100% tied to Zephyr RTOS and cannot function without it. None of the nRF Connect SDK features are available without Zephyr RTOS.
