nRF5 SDK for Thread: Installing latest compatible Eclipse Paho MQTT-SN Gateway in Nordic Border Router Image

Hello,

I have currently cloned and built the latest master branch of Eclipse MQTT-SN Gateway https://github.com/eclipse/paho.mqtt-sn.embedded-c.git on my Nordic Border router image. I have built the gateway using udp6 as parameter.

I followed the suggested answer by Mary in the following devzone post (but outdated 2yrs ago)

https://devzone.nordicsemi.com/f/nordic-q-a/49206/can-t-reconnect-to-mqttsn-gateway to stop the mqtt-sn gateway service, replace the current MQTT-SN gateway build by the latest built mqtt-sn gateway and restart the MQTT-SN gateway service.

So I followed these steps and when I restart the gateway I get the error given in the image.

Can anyone please guide me how to update the paho-mqttsngateway in nordic border router image. I want to update because Nordic Border router image uses 2019 version of MQTT-SN gateway.

Hi, the Nordic Border Router image is based on an old version of OTBR, and might not work properly with newer versions of MQTT-SN. You can try out this docker image if you want to run more up to date software: https://github.com/osaether/otbr-mqtt-sn

Hey thanks for replying.

Is it okay if I just update the mqtt-sn gateway to the commit used in the above mentioned docker image. The gateway setup should be the same, than I guess mqtt-sn working won't change only change is that the docket image is RCP design. While Nordic image is NCP design.
