OTA update mesh nCS 1.7.0

Hi,

We have a question regarding firmware over the air update, can we update the firmware of the devices connected in Mesh network or we need to connect single device and disconnect multiple connection & update the firmware.   

can you please confirm how does OTA works in nCS 1.7.0

Hi,

Unfortunately there is no mesh based solution for DFU in nRF Connect SDK 1.7.0. What is currently available is SMP/MCUmgr, which can be controlled from e.g. the nRF Connect Device Manager app. Alternatively, it should be possible to change transport over from BLE to Bluetooth mesh if using your own protocol for the data transfer over mesh, but that would be a bit more work.

As I understand, the BT MESH spec version 1.1 defines FOTA over BT MESH.
Is there a roadmap for BT MESH version 1.1 to be supported by the nRF SDK?

The newest published version of the Bluetooth mesh specification from Bluetooth SIG at the time of writing is version 1.0.1.

Information on future Bluetooth specifications are available to members of the Bluetooth SIG, depending on membership level. Such specifications, if they exist, are subject to non disclosure and cannot be discussed in public.

For information on our roadmaps and future releases, which may or may not include features related to unreleased specifications, please contact our sales manager in your region. As a general remark, new features are developed for the nRF Connect SDK, while the nRF5 SDK is in maintenance mode. See our nRF connect SDK and nRF5 SDK statement for details.
